Top of the World - The Burj Khalifa

In December I was incredibly lucky to be able to visit Dubai, my sister has recently moved there with her family and I had the chance to not only visit her after 4 months apart & meet up with my Dad there but also discover this amazing city.

I stopped off here on my way back to London after visiting Bali, and I have to say, the Dubai winter temperatures were a welcome relief from the insane humidity in Indonesia!

One of the most amazing things I did whilst in Dubai was visit the Burj Khalif. Located in the downtown district, if you are driving you can park in the Dubai Mall (which is an experience in itself). We spent an hour just wandering the 100s of exclusive shops, aquarium and the outside terrace (with spectacular views of the Burj).

We bought the VIP tickets to go as far up the top as you can go (being a mere tourist). This still gets you 555m up! Crazy right! Looking down on all the other skyscrapers in the distant was a strange experience, this building is seriously just on another level.

When we moved back down to the standard level viewing platform, you really didn't get the same feeling of being so so far above the other buildings (plus a lot more people too) so I would highly recommend spending that little extra, after all how often do you go up the tallest building in the world?
